Yesterday’s Work–Home Conflict and Actigraphically Recorded Sleep-Onset Latency as Predictors of Today’s Cognitive Failure

چکیده
Abstract Cognitive failures are errors in routine action regulation that increase with higher mental demands. In particular, occupations where guidance such as teaching or supervision is essential, cognitive harm one’s performance and also negatively impact knowledge transfer. The aim of this study to investigate yesterday’s work–home conflict (WHC) objectively assessed sleep-onset latency antecedents a next-day failures. Fifty-three teachers were during working week, the morning, after work, evening on each day, well Saturday morning. Sleep-onset was ambulatory actimetry. multi-level analyses showed both WHC predict next day (controlling for from previous sleep quantity, leisure time rumination until falling asleep). However, there no association between WHCs nightly latency. Thus, did not mediate effects today’s Our results highlight importance good work–life balance daily functioning. order promote functioning employees occupational safety, conditions recovery should be considered.

Functional link between distal vasodilation and sleep-onset latency?
Thermoregulatory processes have long been implicated in initiation of human sleep. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of heat loss in sleep initiation, under the controlled conditions of a constant-routine protocol modified to permit nocturnal sleep. Heat loss was indirectly measured by means of the distal-to-proximal skin temperature gradient (DPG). A stepwise regression analys...
متن کاملCold feet and prolonged sleep-onset latency in vasospastic syndrome.
People with vasospastic syndrome have cold hands and feet and abnormal vasoconstriction after local cold exposure. Normally there is a circadian rhythm of distal vasodilation, with onset in the early evening, which directly influences ability to fall asleep. We gave a sleep questionnaire to 32 patients with primary vasospastic syndrome and 31 healthy controls. People with vasospasticity had sig...
متن کاملThe effect of mood on sleep onset latency and REM sleep in interepisode bipolar disorder.
The present study investigates whether interepisode mood regulation impairment contributes to disturbances in sleep onset latency (SOL) and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Individuals with interepisode bipolar disorder (n = 28) and healthy controls (n = 28) slept in the laboratory for 2 baseline nights, a happy mood induction night, and a sad mood induction night. There was a significant intera...
متن کاملGender and cognitive-emotional factors as predictors of pre-sleep arousal and trait hyperarousal in insomnia.
OBJECTIVE Elevated pre-sleep arousal has been consistently associated with insomnia, yet the cognitive-emotional mechanisms involved in sleep-related arousal remain unclear. The purpose of this study was to identify predictors of pre-sleep arousal and trait hyperarousal from a set of variables that included self-reported affect, sleep-related cognitions, locus of control, and gender. METHODS ...
